Honors in Geography

Geography majors with strong grade-point-averages in the university as well as in the major may be eligible for program honors in geography at graduation.  The principal requirement for honors is the demonstration of excellence in a two-quarter research project taken as two successive quarters of Geography 399 in the senior year.

Gamma Theta Upsilon

Gamma Theta Upsilon is an international honor society in the field of geography.  Northwestern’s chapter, Alpha Omicron, was founded in 1950.  Membership is open to geography students who have earned high grades in geography courses and have shown an interest in the field.  An annual initiation dinner is held during spring quarter.  Learn more about GTU at www.gammathetaupsilon.org.
